I just though that I would drop you a line regarding our one day course, “An Introduction to Islam” on the 27th September at the Didsbury Mosque in Manchester.

As a senior broadcast journalist working in the BBC, I find myself making more and more TV reports and programmes about aspects of Islam and Muslim life. I felt as if I needed to grasp the basics of Islam and appreciate some aspects of the way that British Muslims live their lives. Your course was not only informative and educational, but was conducted in an informal and enjoyable manner. Can I also add that the course leader for the day. Ilyas Dalal – was very professional, a great communicator impressed everyone with his in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Islam.

I would have nor hesitation to recommend your course to colleagues.

Further to your email of the 22nd July, I am writing to express my thoughts on the introduction to Islam and the Muslim Culture Course held last Wednesday at the central Mosque in Newcastle.

Having little knowledge of Islam or the Muslim culture I found the day extremely useful and interesting. Part of my role within the Diversity Unit at Northumbria Police involves writing our Race Equality Scheme and advising on areas of diversity. I was therefore surprised to find that I knew so little about the subjects under discussion and that what I did know was sometimes incorrect, or inaccurate.

The information I gained from the course will prove very useful when considering the impact of police policies and practices on the Muslim community. I am in a much more empathetic position to judge how well our police service caters for Muslims and followers of the Islamic faith with its policies, procedures and guidance and am certainly better equipped to advise officers and staff regarding etiquette and best practice.

I think that the course could cover areas of best practice surrounding consultation with the Muslim communities, as public authorities are required to carry out consultations before making decisions that may affect the public.

I hope this helps you to develop your courses further and wish you luck for the future.

Islamic Awareness Training

On behalf of the staff of Deighton & East Fartown Sure Start Programme, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for a very useful training day at Hopwood Road Mosque.

It was refreshing to be able to have a clear distinction made between culture and Islam in a sensitive and practical way.

All the staff that attended the day have maintained their initial reflective thoughts about the training as being extremely positive – applicable for their own knowledge and understanding and their ability to use this in their day to day lives.

The breadth of information, setting and the people involved were hospitable, approachable and most helpful.

The supporting information pack is one of the most practical and easy to use reference documents I have ever seen.

I have shared this information pack with a few of my Muslim colleagues and they too have complemented you on the style and content.

I cannot thin of any one who I would not highly recommend your course to, and look forward to speaking to you soon about some ideas that I have had from the day.

Re Islamic and Muslim Awareness Training at Markazul-Uloom Al-Islamiyya Mosque

I am writing to express how much I enjoyed the above training course which I attended, not really knowing what expect although anticipating that it would be interesting.

This was an understatement as the course was excellent from start to finish. I found all three of the speakers to be extremely clear and obviously experienced.

The content of the course was explained clearly and the delivery of both the background to Muslims in Britain and the Mosque presentation was very well presented and interesting.

The afternoon speaker(s) perspective in birth/marriage/death and the status of women in Islam was also very enjoyable, interesting and again well presented. It gave the right amount of balance of the day.

I very much appreciated the honesty of all three speakers.

I have no hesitation in recommending that other people within our service attend your sessions and thought it was very good value for money.
